Join us for our next Zoom Prayer Meetings this month

Thursday 10 February @ 1pm
Tuesday 22 February @ 8pm

Please join Christian CND in praying this month as we intercede for issues here and around the world. We believe God has the power to move in all these situations and that prayer goes hand in hand with our campaigning efforts. There are many things to be thankful for as well as issues we want to bring before God.

Things to thank God for

  • Continuing diplomatic efforts to ease tensions on the Russia/Ukraine border
  • Progress in talks on the Iran Nuclear Deal
  • Events around the world to mark the anniversary of the Entry into Force of the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons

Situation on the Russia/Ukraine border
In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world – John 16:33
The situation on the border between Russia and the Ukraine appears to be perilous, with troop and hardware build up on the Russian side amidst the continued fighting in the east of the Ukraine. Rhetoric has become increasingly inflamed on all sides, while the people of the Ukraine live with the prospect of conflict. Any military exchange has a serious possibility of escalating, especially with the key actors having such large arsenals of nuclear weapons.

Please pray with us

  • Pray that the diplomatic efforts at all levels would continue and would ultimately be successful
  • Pray for the leaders of the states involved, including our own Prime Minister, to have cool heads and the courage to seek peace
  • Pray for those living in the Ukraine and close to the border in Russia as they live with the ongoing conflict and prospects of escalation
  • Thank God for the unity in the Christian Church in praying for peace on Wednesday 26 January

Security on the Korean Peninsula
So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. Isaiah 41:10
In January North Korea claimed to have tested a highly powerful missile which would be capable of delivering a nuclear warhead within reach of the territory of the United States. While there have been no diplomatic discussions between Washington and Pyong-Yang the launch was seen as a sign that North Korea now has a reasonably reliable nuclear weapons programme with the capacity to test missiles periodically.

Please pray with us

  • Pray that there would a resumption of diplomatic talks between North Korea and other states
  • Pray that the upcoming Winter Olympics would be a chance for diplomatic progress
  • Pray for those who continue to live under the shadow of North Korean nuclear missiles

Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go – Joshua 1:9
Although there have been no new ratifications or signatures on the Treaty in January – there were celebrations around the world to mark the first anniversary of the Treaty entering into legal force. Many states took the opportunity to restate support for the Treaty and call on others to join. Meanwhile the first meeting of States Parties, which was due to take place in Vienna in March, has now been postponed until later in the year due to the continuing restrictions around Covid-19. A new date will be set in due course.

Please pray with us

  • Thank God for the entry into force of the Treaty one year ago
  • Thank God for the leadership of the states that have signed and ratified to date
  • Pray for those involved in the arrangements for the States Parties Meeting
  • Pray that the meeting will be productive and fruitful when it does take place

Iran Nuclear Deal
Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time He may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on Him, because He cares for you – 1 Peter 5:6-7
After months of talks between the states involved in the Iran Nuclear Deal, which was first agreed in 2015, media reports have indicated that progress has been made. According to officials involved in the talks they have reached a stage where politicians will need to decide if they wish to agree terms and return to the basic framework of the deal.

Please pray with us

  • Thank God for those who have been involved in the talks, for their patience and perseverance
  • Thank God that the political leaders have allowed talks to continue
  • Pray that there would be an ultimate breakthrough to restore the deal
  • Pray that this would be a framework to deal with other states which might wish to pursue a nuclear weapons programme
  • Pray for those suffering in Iran as a result of the sanctions imposed on the Tehran regime

Please keep the Christian CND staff team and Exec in your prayers.
