Senedd Calls for TPNW Ratification

On March 9th, the Senedd Cymru (Welsh Parliament) voted in favour of Motion NDM7945 on Ukraine, as amended by Siân Gwenllian to include the following point:

7. [The Senedd] Acknowledges that this conflict increases the risk of a nuclear war and the fear of nuclear war amongst people in Wales and beyond, and therefore calls on all states, including the nuclear states to sign and ratify the United Nations Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons which came into force in January 2021, and which would prevent such a threat in future.

There were 26 votes in favour, 13 against, and 15 abstentions.

Christian CND welcomes this support for the Treaty for the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons, and invites all to join us in praying for peace, and in standing with those opposing nuclear weapons and war around the world.
