In In Memoriam CVI (‘Ring out, wild bells’), Tennyson writes:
‘Ring out the thousand wars of old,
Ring in the thousand years of peace.’
As we begin a New Year, yearning for better things in the world than wars and conflicts, we remember that God is always at work, always doing new things, sometimes in the most unexpected ways and places. I wonder what new things he will do this year, through our actions and prayer…
- for the world
- for the work of Christian CND
- for our Christian CND family
- in the wider Christian and secular peace movements

‘Ring out the darkness of the land,
Ring in the Christ that is to be.’
A prayer
Almighty God,
in Christ you make all things new:
transform the poverty of our nature by the riches of your grace,
and in the renewal of our lives
make known your heavenly glory;
through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord,
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever. Amen.
