Please join Christian CND in praying this month as we intercede for issues here and around the world. We believe God has the power to move in all these situations and that prayer goes hand in hand with our campaigning efforts. There are many things to be thankful for as well as issues we want to bring before God.

Situation in Gaza and the Middle East
Despite another crossing into Gaza opening after an intervention from the United States – the UN and other agencies continues to warn of famine approaching in Gaza. Some people have been able to leave Rafah and return to the city of Khan Younis, although many of the building there have been destroyed. There are also fears that the attack on the Iranian Embassy in Syria last month could lead to a wider escalation in the region, with warnings of an Iranian attack on Israel.

Pray with us:

  • Pray that there would be an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and that aid would be allowed in vastly increased amounts.
  • Pray that the hostages being held in Gaza would be released.
  • Pray that there would be a calming of tensions in the Occupied West Bank, where Israel continues military raids and mass arrests.
  • Pray that there would be no further escalation in the region.
  • Pray for all those who continue to suffer as a result of this situation.
  • Pray for those around the world who are being affected also.

Christian CND Exec and Office Administrator
After the sad death of Roger Horne, Christian CND is currently talking to a number of members about joining our Executive Committee, which we hope will broaden our diversity and also the range of skills on the Exec. Our Office Administrator John McGrath also left us at the end of March to take up a new role, and we are currently recruiting for a new worker.

Pray with us:

  • Give thanks for those who have come forward to join the Exec.
  • Give thanks for John McGrath and the work he has done for Christian CND and pray that he is fruitful in his new role.
  • Pray that those who have expressed an interest in joining Exec would contribute to the organisation.
  • Pray that we would have the right candidate come forward to take the Office Administrator role.

Nuclear weapons spending in the UK
As the UK General Election approaches, both main parties have restated their commitment to nuclear weapons. There have also been various statements about increasing defence spending, including Labour saying they would aim to match the 2.5% of GDP to be spend on defence. Former Armed Forces Minister James Heappey MP called for the figure to reach 3%, which would be an extra £17bn of spending each year. Despite this, there are still many MPs, parties  and candidates who oppose nuclear weapons.

Pray with us:

  • Thank God for those who continue to oppose nuclear weapons, even within parties who support them.
  • Thank God for those outside of political parties who make the case for peace.
  • Pray that peaceful heads and hearts would prevail in the lead up to the General Election.
