I guess most of us using this prayer diary feel like this at times. It can be hard to keep praying and speaking out for peace when we don’t see very much change for the better. But we are not alone!

Let us pray together this month:

  • for an end to the conflict between the USA / Israel (both nuclear armed states) and Iran
  • for fruit from the action at RAF Marham on Saturday 28 February – that the UK Government would abandon its plans to buy 12 nuclear-capable fighter jets
  • 24 February marked the fourth anniversary of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Please read this short article from ICAN (the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons): https://www.icanw.org/four_years_of_war_in_ukraine. Pray about the issues raised there, including the expiry of the New START treaty, Russia’s nuclear threats, and the response of European leaders. Be encouraged that ‘opinion polls across Europe show that most people don’t want nuclear weapons and support steps towards disarmament.’ Pray for ‘a settlement that not only ends the fighting, but also rolls back nuclear risks and strengthens the norm against nuclear weapons.’
  • ‘Together we are stronger’ (CND). Please pray for all CND and CCND members, for our fellowship and support of one another in CCND, and for a new Treasurer

A prayer

‘How long, O Lord, must I dwell

in a world that breeds violence

and amongst people that engage in war?

Teach me, O God, how to be a peacemaker,

how to confront violence with love,

how to courageously and patiently promote

Your will and Your Word

among the hostile and angry masses.’

Psalm 120.6-7 from ‘Psalms / Now’ – Leslie F Brandt
