The Week of Prayer for World Peace was started as a Christian initiative in 1974, but is now an interfaith activity. It runs from the second to third Sunday in October each year, which in 2022 is from Sunday 16 October to Sunday 23 October.
Every day there is a different theme to pray for:
Day 1 – Refugees
Day 2 – Environmental crisis caused by wars
Day 3 – Our Earth
Day 4 – Poverty
Day 5 – Effects on children
Day 6 – Role of peace makers in wars
Day 7 – Humanitarian response
Day 8 – Uniting rather than dividing people
Additionally there is also a national gathering to kick off the week, which will be on line this year to allow as many as possible to participate. Sunday 16 October at 3:30pm. The Zoom link is:
