Christian CND Prayer Diary – May 2024

Please join Christian CND in praying this month as we intercede for issues here and around the world. We believe God has the power to move in all these situations and that prayer goes hand in hand with our campaigning efforts. There are many things to be thankful for as well as issues we want to bring before God.

Situation in Gaza and Israel
Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God.” Mark 10:27
The humanitarian crisis in Gaza continues as Israel has started bombing Rafah – the only place in Gaza where people have been told they will be safe and which is currently where over 1 million Palestinians have been sheltering after more than six months of bombing. There have been continuing peace talks in Cairo and at various points over the past month both sides have stated that they are ready to agree a peace deal, for the other side to appear to turn it down. The UN and aid agencies continue to warn of famine in Gaza as well as the utter catastrophe if the bombing in Rafah increases.

Please pray with us

  • Pray for an immediate ceasefire
  • Pray for the release of the hostages who continue to be held in Gaza
  • Pray for an increase in humanitarian aid into Gaza
  • Pray for those who are suffering both in Gaza and the Occupied West Bank
  • Give thanks for the protests and witnesses that have been taking place around the world for Palestine

US nuclear weapons at Lakenheath
The Lord makes firm the steps of the one who delights in him; though he may stumble, he will not fall, for the Lord upholds him with his hand. Psalm 37:23-24
CND and others continue to protest the return of American nuclear weapons to RAF Lakenheath in Suffolk. Christian CND will be joining others including our friends in the Anglican Pacifist Fellowship for a prayer witness before the latest demonstration which is taking place on Saturday 11 May. The placement of these weapons in Suffolk will do nothing to calm the escalating tensions in Europe and could even make the UK less safe.

Please pray with us

  • Thank God for those who continue to protest against the return of these weapons
  • Pray that politicians would speak up against the return of the nuclear weapons
  • Thank God for the chance to witness on Saturday 11 May and pray that the time would be fruitful

Conflict in Ukraine
Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”    Deuteronomy 31:3
As the conflict in Ukraine continues with little progress towards a peaceful resolution, Vladimir Putin has once again been threatening the West with nuclear weapons – earlier this month he ordered a series a nuclear drills – in response to “threats”. There was also a specific mention of “British Bases” in Putin’s statement.

Please pray with us

  • Pray that there would be a calming of tensions in the region
  • Pray that the conflict in Ukraine would end quickly in a lasting and just peace
  • Pray that politicians would seek dialogue and resolution over conflict
  • Give thanks for those who are working for peace

Please keep the Christian CND staff team and Exec in your prayers.
